Job Description

We are working with Vagdia and Holmes to recruit an experienced Architect to join their team based in Coventry. The role is a full-time, permanent position offering a salary of c£35,000 per annum depending on experience.


We are looking for an experienced Architect who is solution focused and enjoys the process and systems of recording and delivering a professional service.


The experienced Architect will work closely with the Managing Director with the day to day running of the business, helping with business growth and managing others in the Practice. The role will also involve the winning and delivery of commissions.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Work within and towards the Vision, Mission and Culture of the Practice;

  • Generate new enquiries, and close on new business for the Practice (through networking, referral marketing, and other similar activities);

  • Manage and deliver projects, within the commercial interests of the Practice;

  • Deputise for the Managing Director, as the second position of Authority in the Practice;

  • Observe and comply with the RIBA and ARB Codes of Conduct.

  • Working collaboratively and autonomously on commissions, through all of the RIBA Stages of Work, including the generation of all associated production information (drawings, sketches, reports, specifications, presentation materials, etc).

  • Liaising and working with the internal team, Clients, Consultants, Statutory Authorities, working within Client budgets, as approved, and undertaking all associated supporting information and correspondence, as required.

  • Observe the Office protocols and procedures, including the prevailing Laws and Statutory requirements (Health and Safety, Equality Act, etc).

  • Manage other members of the team, including planning and allocating work by delegating tasks and activities, supervise progress, answer questions and check quality of output of work items, and sign off work on completion.

  • Plan their own workloads, and those of team members where required, managing same against clear deliverables, including planning a three month pipeline of work.

  • Undertake business development activities, to generate fee earning commissions.

  • Maintain significant training, learning and self-development, including Continuous Professional Development.


Key Skills and Attributes required:


  • Delegate and manage project delivery, where required;

  • Plan forward, perform to deadlines, and work with the intended solution / outcome in mind;

  • Communicate promptly and effectively, by using hand-sketches and detailed AutoCAD design work;

  • Communicate effectively through verbal, written, drawing and report based media;

  • Communicate well with the team, our Clients, suppliers, external parties and consultants;

  • Technical knowledge and industry experience, to be able to deliver projects through all of the RIBA Stages of Work;

  • Construction cost awareness and knowledge;

  • Problem solving and negotiating skills;

  • Multi-tasking (handling several projects at the same time);

  • Have, or wish to have, a Conservation Architecture accreditation, and be willing to progress their personal development with conservation principles.

  • Have an outgoing, fun-loving, social attitude;

  • Be creative and collaborative;

  • Be able to exercise excellent judgement;

  • Enjoy delivering a professional service;

  • Enjoy travelling (for projects).

  • RIBA and ARB qualified

  • 3 - 5 years post Part III UK Practice experience
