Job Description

We are working with Optera who have an opportunity available for a Project Manager to join their team based in Stretton-on-Dunsmore. It is a full time, permanent role, which may include working away from home for site visits and in return receive a competitive salary of £70,000 plus benefits. Our ideal candidate will have a wealth of experience of leading small teams and managing a diverse range of projects within the construction industry.


About the role:

Based in the UK, you will be mobile and out on site 3-4 days per week with overnight stays during the week, depending on location. We work nationwide, so there will be an element of travelling between sites. You will have the opportunity to work on a number of projects ranging from drainage surveys and repairs, traditional and piled underpinning, riverbank stabilisation, retaining wall construction/reconstruction, root barrier installations, remediation of landslips and subterranean voids.


What will I be doing?

Reporting to the Operations Manager, your typical duties will include:

  • Identifying project requirements, delivery timelines and costs.

  • Ensuring projects are delivered to the highest of standards, to agreed timescales and returning the expected profitability.

  • Developing excellent leadership, customer relations and communication skills to liaise effectively with WHC and other stakeholders with expected changes to Construction Phasing Plans.

  • Being a point of contact between business, Technical Manager, Lead Trade and live jobs.

  • Being a principal point of contact for day-to-day queries from the Policyholder, and keeping them updated on key progress proactively

  • Developing detailed project plans to guide clients and teams and revising based on changing needs and requirements.

  • On site assessments of Progress, Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental standards.

  • Ensuring projects are compliant with necessary standards and offering practical solutions when needed.

  • Producing regular reports to the board.


Could this be for you?

In order to be considered for this role, you will ideally:

  • Have significant experience of managing your own small team.

  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with all employees, to foster compliance through a positive and constructive working relationship with trades.

  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Have significant practical experience developing and managing civil or structural engineering projects and providing updates, identifying risks, producing reports and managing critical path activities.

  • Have excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Understand the constraints and challenges working inside an SME.

  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and compliance on construction sites (including CDM, HSE specific guidance e.g., HSGs).

  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Full Driving Licence.
