Job Summary
As a Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality assessment and rehabilitation to individuals with neurological conditions in the community. You will work independently and within a supportive team, developing your expertise in evidence-based neurological physiotherapy through hands-on clinical practice, mentorship, and structured professional development opportunities. This role requires strong organisational and diary management skills, as you will provide physiotherapy services across different locations, planning your workload efficiently to maximise patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Knowledge & Practice
Assess, treat, and manage a caseload of clients with a range of neurological conditions, including stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, brain injury, and spinal cord injury.
Collaborate with clients and their families to set meaningful rehabilitation goals, listening with care to what matters most to them.
Motivate and inspire clients to engage with individualised, evidenced-based rehabilitation plans.
Integrate rehabilitation technology into practice.
Use clinical reasoning and problem-solving to tailor treatments effectively.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional and legal requirements.
Create reports for case managers regarding physiotherapy recommendations and treatment progression.
Liaise with multidisciplinary professionals to deliver holistic rehabilitation.
Deliver in-service training and contribute to monthly reflective case discussions.
2. Organisational & Time Management Skills
Effectively plan and manage your diary to deliver community-based services across multiple locations.
Ensure efficient scheduling of appointments, travel, and follow-ups to maximise clinical time and minimise unnecessary travel.
Be adaptable and responsive to changing schedules and client needs.
Essential Criteria
Eligible to work in the UK continuously without sponsorship.
Degree in Physiotherapy (BSc/MSc or equivalent).
HCPC registration as a Physiotherapist.
Approximately 3-5+ years of continuous neurological rehabilitation experience, with the ability to assess and manage a caseload effectively.
Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (or ability to travel independently between client locations).
Enthusiasm for delivering person-centred rehabilitation within clients' homes and communities.
Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and within a community-based setting.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Strong communication and clinical reasoning skills.
Desirable Criteria
Postgraduate training in evidence-based practice in neurological physiotherapy.
Experience in private practice, community-based rehabilitation, or specialist neurological teams.
Membership of professional networks (e.g., ACPIN, CSP).
Experience using gait analysis, orthotics, and / or rehabilitation technology.
